At work, I have a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop running Windows XP (32-bit). In order to run 64-bit VirtualBox machines, I needed to enable virtualization support. Here’s how to do this:
1. When booting up, select F12
2. Select BIOS setup
3. In the Virtualization Support tree:
- Virtualization, select Enable, Apply
- VT for Direct I/O Access, select Enable, Apply
- Trusted Execution, do not select Enable
4. Select Exit to continue booting into Windows.
